WEST PALM BEACH | BRIGHTLINE

This week we took a tour of the new Brightline station in downtown West Palm Beach. Located between Evernia and Datura just west of Quadrille, test trains are currently passing through the 60,000SF space throughout the day.

Slated to start running by the end of the year, the initial routes will travel from West Palm Beach to Fort Lauderdale with Miami being added in Q1 of 2018. Each leg will take approximately 30 minutes allowing riders to get from WPB to Miami in about an hour.

It is anticipated that Brightline will become the preferred mode of transportation for commuters and professionals with its reliable travel time, work-friendly accommodations and free wifi. The design is also geared towards those traveling for leisure and families with a “Brightline Kids” play area in the lounge and quad seating options.

Trains are planned to depart on the hour with service running later for Miami Heat games. Phase 2 will include trains to Orlando with the railway from Cocoa to Orlando currently under construction.

Riders are invited to download the Brightline app to book rides and use digital tickets for entry. The station features self-serve kiosks, customer service, a cafe, waiting lounge, kids play area and state of the art security for rider protection.

I, for one, can’t WAIT for trains to get going. The ability to get to Miami in about an hour and not deal with traffic, parking, etc. sounds fantastic and I think Brightline will open up a whole new option to visit a wider range of South Florida restaurants and take more family trips without the guilt of my daughter being cooped up in a carseat all day.
