Palm Beach’s Taste of the Nation for No Kid Hungry, The Year’s Biggest Culinary Event for a Cause, Returns on April 14
Top chefs, restaurateurs, brewers, sommeliers and mixologists join forces to help end childhood hunger
Residents of the Palm Beaches and beyond can enjoy the most celebrated food, wine, beer and craft cocktails in the area on April 14 when Palm Beach’s Taste of the Nation for No Kid Hungry returns to Kravis Center for the Performing Arts. The annual tasting event will feature top chefs, restaurateurs, brewers, sommeliers and mixologists united for a cause: making sure all children in this country get the healthy food they need, every day. Proceeds from the event benefit No Kid Hungry’s work to end childhood hunger in America.
Led by Co-Chairs Chefs Lindsay Autry, Zach Bell, Clay Conley and Tim Lipman, culinary tastemakers from Palm Beach and Martin Counties will provide guests with scrumptious bite-size fare, craft beer, and wine curated by Master Sommelier Virginia Philip. Guests will also be treated to craft cocktails from the two winners of The Shake Up, the month-long county-wide cocktail competition, and be witness to The Shake Up Throw Down on the main stage where the two will compete in a live, secret-ingredient cocktail challenge. A live auction will also grace the stage with one-of-a-kind culinary prizes, such as the Grand BBQ Experience with guest chefs Julien Gremaud (Avocado Grill), Rick Mace and James Strine (Café Boulud), Eric Baker (Max’s Harvest), and Aaron Black (PB Catch); or Dine for a Year with a collection of dining experiences up and down the county; as well as a Tiki River Cruise & Private Dinner where you’ll spend an evening on the Loxahatchee River aboard a private boat, then dock at Guanabanas for a private waterside dinner with guest chefs.
Entertainment, DJ, live music, dancing, games, contests, a silent auction, cooking demos and a photo booth will all add to the festive, chef-supported affair.
“While we are cooking for people who may dine out every day, remember that around the corner, in our own backyard, one in five kids are not getting the food they need to learn and grow. Share Our Strength works to provide access to food for these future leaders on a local, state and national level,” said long-time advocate Chef Zach Bell.
Every Kid, Healthy Food, Every Day
One in five children in this country struggles with hunger. Here in Florida it’s one in four children. No Kid Hungry is ending childhood hunger in this nation by ensuring that kids start the day with a nutritious breakfast and families learn the skills they need to shop and cook on a budget. Already, No Kid Hungry and its partners have connected kids struggling with hunger with 460 million meals.
In 2015, Palm Beach’s Taste of the Nation for No Kid Hungry raised enough to help feed more than 760,000 healthy meals to children in need. No Kid Hungry Florida partners include Florida Impact, FLIPANY, Feeding South Florida, Second Harvest Foodbank, University of Florida IFAS extension, Coalition for the Homeless.
